White is not white ...

This statement is not only to be considered for the choice of the colour tone but also for pigment quality. In Masterbatches significant differences exist regarding opacity, covering power, brightness, dispersion and abrasiveness of the formulated pigments.

Different chemical substances can be used as pigments. The maximum reachable performance depends on the choice of the pigments and the production process. Different crystal structures of Titaniumdioxide like Rutile and Anatas e.g. impart totally different pigment properties concerning brightness. The most important one with the highest elucidation rate, Rutile, generates a bright warm white tone. Addition of extenders improves the opacity and enhances the printability e.g. of polyethylene films.

Criteria for the choice of raw materials in our formulations are not only covering power or colour tone but also UV-stability and low abrasive pigment equipment. At least the consideration of customer specific demands leads to wide range of White-Masterbatches and combinations of white MB with Antistatic-, Slip-, Antioxidant- or UV- Stabilizing substances.

Special tailor-made formulations are possible at a minimum amount of 500kg.

Additives

AO: Process stabilizers protect your polymers against damage during the production process.
AST: Long- and short term antistatics like ethoxylated amines alkanolamines, alkylsulfonates or GMS as single additive or in combination with synergistic effect.
HALS: Polymer or monomer UV-stabilizers give a long lasting protection against damages attributed to UV-radiation.
Absorber: Chemical filters absorb the damaging UV-radiation and give a synergistic assistance to the UV-stabilizers.
NK: Nucleating additives improve crystallinity, decrease process time and provide isotropic shrinking.
Slip: Lubricants improve demoulding, easy mounting, increase flow properties and give a slip effect on the surface.
Extender: Extenders like baryte or chalk enhance covering power of the Masterbatch. They impart less brightness but improve the printability.

Quality

Nemitz White-Masterbatches base on premium grade pigments in different polymer carriers, partly combined with additional additives. The compatibility of the Masterbatch is largely ruled by the carrier polymer.

Granules: strand-cut or round pellets

Compatibility to the following polymers:
  • PE-LD, PE-HD, PE-LLD
  • PP, PP-homo, PP-copo, PP-random
  • EVA, EBA ,
  • PS and Styrenics (ABS, SAN …)
  • PC,
  • PA 6, PA 6.6, PA 11, PA 12
  • Universal Carrier

Food contact approval

In general, nearly all of the active agents are admitted within the usual dosage, according to the BfR-recommendations.
The particular data can be taken out of the product information sheets.
Approvals of other authorities, especially FDA- and EC-approvals are present in most cases and are available, if required.
