Application
Soft and flexible polymers and complicated moulds will often lead to a hard removal of injection moulded parts. In this case a special kind of slip agent in a Mould Release-Masterbatch can help to decrease the demoulding force. The Masterbatch is added in a dosage of 1-3% depending on the polymer.
Effect
Internal slip agents act in different ways depending on their chemical structure:
Release agents reduce the adhesive strength of plastic melts and of hot plastic products at metal sides. Mould release agents reduce the release resistance respectively the adherence of the plastic product to the surfaces of the tool.
All additives have a more or less strong influence on the surface. Possible effects of the adhesives on the following working stages (welding, sticking, printing, lacquering etc.) at moulded parts should be determined in a preliminary test.
Dosage
The properties of the surface of the finished part are essentially influenced by the concentration of the additive. Small amounts of slip respectively external slip agents reduce the roughness of the surface, high concentration can provide the surfaces with greasing properties. The flowability of the polymer melting is regulated via the concentration of the additive.
Polymers
Our Masterbatches are, depending on the used carrier polymer, suited for the following applications:- PE-LD, PE-HD, PE-LLD as well as Copolymers and mixtures of it
- PP-Homo, PP-Copo, PP-Random
- EVA, EBA, Uni
- PA 6, PA 6.6, PA 11, PA 12
- PS and Styrolcopolymere (e.g. ABS, SAN)
- PET, PET-G
- PC
Food contact approval
In general, nearly all of the active agents are admitted within the usual dosage, according to the BfR-recommendations.
The particular data can be taken out of the product information sheets.
Approvals of other authorities, especially FDA- and EC-approvals are present in most cases and are available, if required.
